A word to past donors and grantors:
Being a non-profit volunteer fire department, we here at the Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Company would first like to thank our past donors and grantors. Without your support, our fire department would not be as well-equipped as we are today. Every cent of your donation or grant is used to repair, replace, or modernize our apparatus and equipment.
As times change and new technology or equipment is available, we evaluate its need here at the department. We do not hesitate to repair existing or purchase needed apparatus and equipment to fulfill our mission to serve our local community, the surrounding area, and the thousands of motorists passing through on our section of Interstate I-70 every day.
Being well-equipped for any emergency is a must, and it allows us to readily respond within minutes and save lives and property.
A word to future donors and grantors:
If you're researching our company before making a decision, please take your time to explore our entire website to learn more about our mission and what we're about. If you're local and would like to take a walk around the station and look at our equipment or facilities in person, feel free to reach out or ring the doorbell at the station.
We try to keep our webpage page as up to date as we can to keep you informed of past and future happenings within our company.
Our Mission:
Our mission here at the Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Company is to be 100% ready at a moment's notice, 24-7-365, to respond to any emergency call within our area of coverage. We strive to have the best equipment and be well prepared when we show up. Whether its knocking down flames on a fire, cutting someone out of a car, or rescuing someone from the Potomac River or mountainside, we will be prepared.
Where do your donations and grants go?
When we receive your donations or grants, unless they are specified to be used for certain purchases, the funds are placed in our general funds account. If the funds are specified for certain purchases, we track the funds and allocate them where specified to be used.
Typically, the funds are used to maintain or buy new equipment and apparatus. This includes personal protective equipment(PPE), tools, hoses, ropes, tanks, batteries, ect. The funds are also used for vehicle maintenance, new fire engines, or upkeep of our two owned buildings(fire hall and special events building).
Projected Future Company Needs
Security Cameras
At our March 2026 meeting, we discussed the need for security cameras at the fire station. The station currently has zero cameras. Due to the amount of apparatus and equipment housed inside and outside the station, the company voted to move forward to protect assets and prevent property damage.

Generator Upgrade
At our March 2026 meeting, we also discussed the need for a new generator to power the Clear Spring fire station. For the past few years, the company has been utilizing a towable 55kw commercial generator that powers only a portion of the station's lighting and power outlets. During an emergency, the garage doors of the apparatus bay need to be manually opened by chain. Upgrading our generator to at least a permanent 125kw generator will allow us to utilize the entire station during an outage.
This would also allow the fire station to be used as a central command post for large-scale events or a temporary shelter for affected residents in our area of responsibility during natural disasters or other large-scale events.
Price: (Still in the process of getting quotes), ranging now from $100,000 to $200,000.
