On 1-20-2026 at 03:49 am, the Washington County 911 center received a call from the homeowner of 14717 St. Paul Road, Clear Spring, MD, reporting a chimney fire. By the time crews arrived on scene, the home was fully envolved and flames were showing through the roof. All occupants of the home managed to escape without injury.
On 1/6/2026, around 2 pm, the Washington County 911 center received a call for animals being stuck on the ice at Blairs Valley Lake. Clear Spring VFC was the first to arrive with their rescue equipment, followed by Williamsport VFC to assist. It was found that a deer and a dog were stuck on the ice toward the back of the lake. Crews carried their lightweight raft from the staging area, donned their cold water gear, and completed their mission. Both the deer and dog were removed from the ice without incident.
On December 23, 2025 the Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Company officially placed our 2025 Pierce Walk-In Heavy Rescue Squad (Rescue Squad 4) into service, strengthening our emergency response capabilities for the Clear Spring community and surrounding jurisdictions.
The apparatus has been dedicated in honor of the late Fire Chief Zack Reid, recognizing his lasting impact and service to the fire and rescue community.

On 11/18/2025, around 4:30 am, the Washington County 911 center received a call for a fully involved structure fire located at 13811 National Pike. Clear Spring VFC arrived on scene a short time later. Firefighter Caleb Jenkins made entry into the house and located two deceased individuals on the ground floor of the residence. After the fire was contained, what was left of the structure was searched, and a third victim was located in the basement. It was later determined that all three victims suffered gunshot wounds and were deceased before the fire. Caleb was honored for his efforts on the scene by Charlie Mundey at the Clear Spring Company meeting in January of 2026. Thank you to all the other fire departments who responded to assist with the scene.
